Volunteer Opportunities – Herndon Dogs, Inc.

Membership: The purpose of this committee is to increase membership and promote Herndon Dogs in the community. This would include organizing membership drives at various locations around town (i.e. Petco, town events, dog park, etc.) This committee would coordinate all the appropriate details (time/dates), recruit volunteers, and organize membership materials needed for the table.

Fundraising/Activities: The purpose of this committee is to organize fundraising events and to work with local organizations, such as the Town of Herndon Parks and Recreation personnel with their events that we are invited to be a part of. (One example of this would be the K9-2K.) The funds raised would be used to pay for future park amenities. This committee would also organize events for the specific purpose of uniting members for fun outings.

Communications: The purpose of this committee is to create and send to the members a periodic newsletter of current events, contact information and various other tidbits that dog owners would like to know. Copies of the newsletters would also be delivered to specific dog-friendly locations around town. In addition, these volunteers would also help with drafting and providing current news to our webmasters in order to keep the website up to date.

Facilities/Operations: These volunteers would research the option of possible future park amenities, such as ground cover, water, etc. In addition, they would administer the Park Watch program and coordinate the monitoring of the conditions of the dog park.
