CHANDON DOG PARK TO OPEN BEFORE CHRISTMAS, 2002!!!!

On November 8th board members met with the Fairfax County Park Authority to finalize the design for construction of our dog park. If you've been by Chandon Park recently, you've seen that ALL of the required additional parking has already been completed. This is a huge win for our relationship with the Town and the surrounding community.

When it opens our dog park will have the following amenities:
(1) Main dog park with double gated entry.
(2) Small dog park with separate double gated entry and ability to move from small dog area to main area.
(3) Seven benches (dependent on delivery and opening schedules).
(4) Six trash cans.
(5) Six poop bag dispensers for "BRING YOUR OWN" bag storage (start saving those bags).
(6) Kiosk for literature distribution.
(7) Locking metal storage box for any equipment we need to keep handy.

We will continue to investigate the possibility of ground cover (other than mulch or crushed bluestone), running water to parking lot area, and one sturdy piece of play equipment for dogs.

HERNDON HOMECOMING PARADE

Thanks go out to Herndon Dogs member Jenniffer Vasiento for organizing our participation for the 3rd year in the Herndon Homecoming Parade. It was a picture perfect Fall day and a great time was had by all. Our canine companions were well received all along the parade route by both human and dog spectators, a few of whom joined in our march. We also garnered a nice smile and wave from our good friend, Mayor Thoesen as well as the Town Council members on the reviewing stand.
