Chandon
Dog Park Incident Reporting Process
As
the sponsoring organization, Herndon Dogs is required to maintain a record of
any incidents that occur at Chandon Dog Park, and proactively identify any corrective
actions that could be effective. We expect that the majority of incidents will
not require police intervention.
Herndon Dogs is fortunate
to have the backing of the Herndon Police to help with more serious situations
or problems that may arise at the dog park, however, their help will be limited
if we cannot provide them with descriptive information about problems that occur.
It is important to be able to show a pattern of repeated behavior. In no case
should you try to deal on your own with a threatening or uncooperative individual.
You should call the Herndon Police non-emergency number at (703) 435-6846.
You should use the Incident
Report Form to report the following types of incidents:
- Any incident to which the police
are called.
- Any incident where skin is broken
on either a human or a dog. Even if this type of incident is handled amicably
between the handlers, there may be follow up questions that need to be answered
and we need a way to contact the parties.
- Any incident between dogs or
their handlers where one party is not satisfied with the resolution, even
if the other party has left the dog park.
- Incidents where a dog park user
is observed violating the dog park rules even if the observers did not confront
him/her.
Print out the Incident
Report form (click on link to get to the form) and complete as much of the information
on it as possible. If you cannot get a name or phone number, capture other descriptive
information about the person(s) and dog(s), the vehicle description/license
plate number or the direction that the person left the dog park on foot.
When complete, send the
form to the following address:
Herndon Dogs, Inc.
Post Office Box 250
Herndon, Virginia 20170
Our voicemail number is
(703) 578-0522, mailbox option 7, and we usually monitor the voicemail (as well
as retrieve mail from our PO box) several time per week.
