Come Make a Splash at the 2007 Herndon Pool Party!
Join us on Sepetmber 8, 2007 from 2PM-5PM for our annual Herndon Dog Park Pool Party at the Courts of Chandon Pool in Herndon, VA. The cost is $10 for up to 2 dogs and $5 for each extra dog. We hope to see you on Saturday!

What Happened to the Water?

The water at the dog park has been turned off for the winter season. This means that there will be no running water in the park during the winter, so please remember to bring plenty of fresh water to keep your dog hydrated. The water pump will be turned on again in the spring.

2006 Pool Party

All things considered, the 2006 Pool Party was a success (no thanks to gloomy weather). We spent over $200.00 to get ramps to use in the pool. Due to insurance regulations, most pools have eliminated diving boards and gotten rid of that equipment. We also had to pay to rent the pool and may not be able to do so again if we fall too short of funds.

Unfortunately, we only collected $220.00, although there were far more dogs there. If you came in and did not pay, please consider making your payment to one of the board members or mail it to Herndon Dogs. The board members regularly at the park include:

  • Marsha (owned by Tucker and Murphy, both cocker spaniels)

  • Fermina (owned by Gypsy, black lab)

  • Heidi (owned by Flip, white terrier)
  •

    PLASTIC BAGGIES NEEDED!

Help keep the dog park clean and keep bringing your extra dry, empty grocery bags to the park.  Bags can be placed in the plastic bin near the entrance or taken directly to the storage bins next to the trashcans.

    May Dog of the Month

Kiska just loves the outdoors and particularly "rolling in the grass." a Kiska is happiest when she is in and around grass and playing. Just of the sound of the word "park" brings a smile to her little furry face.

Does your pooch have what it takes to be a Dog of the Month? If you think so, send us a photo and a write up about your dog and we'll decide.

    T-Shirts Are Here!
Herndon Dogs now has its own t-shirt. It features the Herndon Dogs logo in the upper left on the front and the phrase: "Get Out of the Dog House, Go to Chandon Dog Park" on the back. Shirts can be purchased for $12 for sizes M-XL; XXL shirts are $15.

    Annual Dues
Herndon Dogs, Inc. assesses a $15 membership dues, per family, annually.  The membership cycle runs Sept. 1 to Aug. 31. The dues provide funding for ongoing expenses without the need for a focus on fundraisers, unless a costly amenity is identified to be added to the dog park.

To become a Herndon Dogs member, please remit the $15 membership dues either online via the "Make a Donation" link or by mail at: Herndon Dogs, Inc., P.O. Box 250, Herndon, Virginia 20172-0250, check payable to "Herndon Dogs". More information can be found at the "Membership" link, along with the Membership Application.

Membership in Herndon Dogs is open to anyone. You don't have to live in Herndon to join.
